Rakkh Resort
Sometimes, you need to disconnect and enjoy your own company!
There is something about Rakkh that gives you the vibe of being alive the minute you set foot in their premises! As soon as we entered, we were greeted by the friendly Tina and Talli, I did smile the minute I heard their names! Not being a lover of dogs personally, but it did make me smirk!
Offering a panoramic view of the spectacular Dhauladhar range, Rakkh is situated in a brilliant location of the Ghamrotra village in Palampur, Himachal, just about 40kms from the famous Dharamshala hill station. This is a concept resort that sure makes you want to connect with yourself!
Rakkh can be classified as a family-friendly or even a lovely couples resort, offering private space as well as a plethora of activities for kids and adults alike. I sure did blurt out a “Wow” once I set foot in their rooms! They are Luxurious, contemporary, spaciously comfortable, and offer spectacular views! Their restaurant is partly open and offers panoramic views of the mountain range and the village.
I would like to call this a game-changer resort!! The staff is amazingly warm, forthcoming, and go out of their way to make their guests feel special. Our first special experience was the authentic Kangri dinner at the resort, they have a small mud hut in an open space wherein the local womenfolk come and cook authentic local food in an even more authentic dinner set up! Sitting on the floor, under the stars, and enjoying a heavenly meal of simple but yet soulful food is a rare sight these days! Oh, Did I mention loaded with lots of Love and Ghee!!
Post dinner when we got to our room we were greeted with a very unique experience of a warm foot bath with the goodness of Gumma Salt. A Himachali salt which is filled with favorable properties. More than the benefit of the salt, it is the thought and the experience which warmed my heart, as post the foot bath I tucked myself cozy in bed.
I fall short of words to describe the feeling of waking up to the melodious tunes of chirping birds and the spectacular views of a sunrise over the mountains! It’s a feeling of being Blessed and being Alive!
Early next morning we were scheduled for a hike crossing remote villages, rivers and getting to the local temple. It is almost a 5km hike and super cardio! Post the hike, we had built up an appetite for a delectable breakfast that awaited us when we returned.
We had actually planned to go to Bir Billing for para-gliding but we were so mesmerized by the resort that we skipped the plan and decided to enjoy the resort and build our sweet memories there itself!
Rakkh has a little shed which is a self-help juice corner for their guests! Isn’t that simply adorable! They have lemons, sweet lemons, oranges, soda and masalas, you can do your own thing, mix and match your preference of fruits and juice them from a traditional hand juicer! A very innovative concept!! They also have a dedicated ‘maggi’ time for their guests which is such a delight especially in the hills where ‘pahadon waali maggi’ tops the list of things to-do whilst visiting the hills!
Rakkh can keep you busy all through your staycation! With a plethora of activities they have on offer, pottery, indoor games, river treks, hikes, bathing in the river, biking, yoga classes, for sure you will not have a minute to get bored or feel otherwise!
Our second dinner at the resort was nothing short of being breathtaking! A candlelit set up under the stars on a starry moonlit night! Dreamy & Ultra romantic to add to it we had a spread of “Dham” local Pahari feast, the cuisine was fantastic, bursting with flavors of the region and each dish was very distinctive. A meal and an experience that will be cherished for a long long time.
Our trip sure came to an end but the pleasure we left with and the happiness in our hearts will be remembered for many moons! And one thing is for sure…. We Are Going Back, for some more delightful experiences!!
