Scuba Diving and Goan Cooking - 3Nights/4Days.....

Day 1
Check in at hotel in Calangute. Refresh and head towards Morjim. Stop enroute for a sumptuous meal (lunch) at Sea Shore restaurant. Head towards Morjim Beach. Relax and enjoy the sun and sand at the beach. This beach is most famous for Olive Ridley sea turtles, an endangered species found here. The southern end that has soft white sand, serves as the nesting ground for these turtles that come here to lay their eggs. Enjoy the sunset with cocktails, followed by dinner at Club Fresh-an elegant beach lounge, just a few feet away from the water at Morjim Beach. It serves some mind blowing Thai and Oriental food!

Day 2
After breakfast at the resort, you can visit either Reis Magos Fort or Old goa. The details of both the places are given below. Covering both of them might get a little hectic. However if enthusiastic enough, you may choose to cover both. Reis Magos fort is located in the village of Reis Magos, on the Northern bank of river Mandovi facing the capital city Panjim. It was erected in 1551 to protect the narrowest point at the mouth of Mandovi estuary. During the Portuguese regime, it accommodated viceroys and other dignitaries from, or en route to Lisbon. The fort is now home to the drawings and cartoons of Padma Vibhushan Mario Miranda. The fort offers a breath-taking view of the Mandovi river and the Panjim city.

DAY 3
Pick up from hotel at 7.45 am and head to the diving centre. You will then travel 20-24 km in a motor boat from the Calangute shore to Grande Island.There are 8 to 10 diving sites around the Island. It is located around Vasco de Gama and owned by the Indian Navy. There are seventy different species of fish, Olive Ridley turtles, tonnes of beautiful marine plants, the World War – II shipwreck, coral reefs, wreckage of metal steamer, rock pinnacles that can be spotted. The breathtaking view of the ocean and close encounter with different water bodies is truly an enchanting experience.The maximum recommended depth for the dive is 15 meters. The visibility ranges from 6-12 meters. Refreshments will be provided and pictures will be clicked underwater. You will be accompanied by a PADI certified instructor and geared with scuba suit and scuba equipment.

Day 4
After breakfast at the hotel, check out and drive to the Siolim Cooking School for Goan cooking class. Start with a short local market tour (to buy some fresh fish and local spice) and learn to cook tropical Goan food in a mesmerising colonial setting of Siolim House. You will learn to cook three dishes with experienced local chefs. You can choose the recipes you would like to learn from over 20 different recipes. You get to enjoy a lunch out of the dishes you prepared and share your experiences. You can also invite friends to savour the delicacies. A take-away cook book, with the main recipes is also provided towards the end of the session. You can drive to the airport/ railway station after the cooking class and shop that last batch of spirits for colleagues!
